M014 - Basic Algebra Correspondence |
| A scientific calculator is required. Designed to provide algebraic skills needed for future mathematics courses, such as M118 or M119. Operations with fractions, exponents, linear equations, inequalities, elementary graphs. Credit may not be applied toward an IU degree in the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Education, the Kelley School of Business, the School of Public and Environmental Affairs, or the School of Continuing Studies. Offered on a Satisfactory/Fail basis. Does not fulfill the COAS Fundamental Skills in Mathematics Requirement. Prerequisite: One year of high school algebra. |
M118 - Finite Mathematics Online / Correspondence |
| Sets, counting, basic probability including random variables and expected values. Linear systems, matrices, linear programming, and applications. Credit given for only one of M118, A118, or the sequence D116-D117. Prerequisite: Two years of high school algebra or M014. |
M119 - Brief Survey of Calculus I Correspondence |
| Introduction to calculus. Primarily for students from business and the social sciences. A student cannot receive credit for more than one of the following: M119, M211 or COAS J113. Prerequisite: Two years of high school algebra or M014. |
M125 - Precalculus Mathematics Correspondence |
| Designed to prepare students for M119. Algebraic operations; polynomial, exponential, and logarithmic functions and their graphs; conic sections; systems of equations; and inequalities. WARNING: This course will be treated as MATH M025 on the Bloomington campus. Students in degree programs should check with the recorder of their school and should be aware that M125 may result in no hours of credit toward a degree. In order to fulfill the COAS Fundamental Skills in Mathematics Requirement, students must earn a grade of C- or better, and no hours of credit will be awarded toward a degree in the College of Arts and Sciences. Graphing calculator required. Prerequisites: Two years of high school algebra or M014, and one year of high school geometry. |
M126 - Trigonometric Functions Correspondence |
| Designed to prepare students for M211. Trigonometric functions; identities. Graphs of trigonometric and inverse trigonometric functions. WARNING: This course will be treated as MATH M026 on the Bloomington campus. Students in degree programs should check with the recorder of their school and should be aware that M126 may result in no hours of credit toward a degree. This course does not fulfill the COAS Fundamental Skills in Mathematics Requirement. Prerequisite: M125 (may be taken concurrrently). |
