The School of Continuing Studies collaborates with the Internal Revenue Service and the Indiana Department of Revenue to present two-day Tax Practitioner Institutes at several Indiana locations. The institutes meet continuing education requirements for attorneys, certified public accountants, certified financial planners, and enrolled agents. The School of Continuing Studies handles all details of organization, marketing, materials, and registration. The School of Continuing Studies, the Internal Revenue Service, and Indiana Department of Revenue provide the instructional content and instructors.
The Indiana University Tax Practitioner Institutes are approved for
- 16 continuing professional education hours
- 16 continuing education hours for enrolled agents
- 1.6 continuing education units
- 13 continuing legal education hours from the Indiana Commission for Continuing Legal Education
- 13 continuing education hours from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards
Sandi Owen is a faculty member in the IU Kelley School of Business. She served as a writer and reviewer for the CPA Exam, and teaches with the Becker CPA Review Program. She is a certified public accountant and has worked as a division controller and corporate tax analyst. She holds a J.D. and a master of accounting in taxation from Indiana university, as well as an M.B.A. from the University of Kentucky.
Steve Haworth is a certified public accountant, an accredited tax advisor, an accredited business advisor, and an elder care specialist. He served for the Internal Revenue Service for more than 10 years in several different capacities including auditor, group manager, instructor for new agents, and as District Directors representative for the Columbus, IN office. He has served as an author and instructor for various accounting and tax associations, and was State Director for Indiana Society of Accountants, where he currently holds the position of Chair of the state regulation and oversight committee. Steve served as President of Quality for Indiana Taxpayers Inc. tax forum. He is President of Stephen C. Haworth Accountants P.C.
