Anyone may apply for admission to Indiana University High School. Indiana University High School does not operate on a traditional semester schedule, so you may apply for admission whenever you choose.
Decide which of the following five categories applies to you. Submit all materials listed under that category to Indiana University High School, Owen Hall 001, 790 E. Kirkwood Avenue, Bloomington, IN 47405-7101, Attn.: Admissions Section.
Important: An official transcript is sent directly from the school or organization where you did previous course work. It is embossed with the school's or organization's seal. If you must submit an official transcript as part of your application materials, ask the school or organization where you did your course work to send an official transcript of your work to Indiana University High School. We cannot accept transcripts sent by students.
- If You're Just Starting High School, submit the following materials:
- the admission application form. Please complete both sides of the form fully and accurately.
- a $40 nonrefundable admission application fee.
- If You've Already Completed Some Course Work at an Accredited High School in the United States, submit the following materials:
- the admission application form. Please complete both sides of the form fully and accurately.
- an official transcript (not a photocopy) of all course work you've completed beyond the eighth grade level. The transcript must be sent to us directly by your high school.
- a $40 nonrefundable admission application fee.

- If You've Already Completed Some Course Work at an Accredited High School outside the United States, submit the following materials:
- the admission application form. Please complete both sides of the form fully and accurately.
- an official transcript (not a photocopy) of all course work you've completed beyond the eighth grade level. The transcript must be sent to us directly by your high school. Please arrange with the institution issuing the transcript for it to be translated into English before it is submitted to Indiana University High School.
- an official copy of your scores on the Iowa Tests of Education Development (ITED). See the ITED application form.
- a $40 nonrefundable admission application fee.
- If You've Already Completed Some High School Course Work in a Nonaccredited School, Homeschool, or Other Nontraditional Setting, submit the following materials:
- the admission application form. Please complete both sides of the form fully and accurately.
- if available, an official transcript (not a photocopy) of all course work you've completed beyond the eighth grade level. The transcript must be sent to us directly by your high school or other educator.
- a written learning portfolio (see Transfers) for each course that you completed beyond the eighth grade level and for which you seek credit to apply toward your IUHS diploma.
- an official copy of your scores on the Iowa Tests of Education Development (ITED). See the ITED application form.
- a $40 nonrefundable admission application fee.

- If You've Already Earned Your GED (General Educational Development) Diploma, submit the following materials:
- the admission application form. Please complete both sides of the form fully and accurately.
- if available, an official transcript (not a photocopy) of all course work you've completed beyond the eighth grade level. The transcript must be sent to us directly by your high school or other educator.
- an official copy of your GED test scores (sent to Indiana University High School directly from the GED Testing Service).
- if requesting credit for course work you've already completed, an official copy of your scores on the Iowa Tests of Education Development (ITED). See the ITED application form.
- a $40 nonrefundable admission application fee.

After you apply, we'll send you a letter confirming that we've received your admission application materials. If you've sent all necessary materials, we'll send them on to an IUHS academic advisor for immediate evaluation. If you haven't sent all necessary materials, we'll indicate in our confirmation letter which materials you still need to submit; we'll then place your admission application on hold until we've received the materials from you.
An academic advisor will notify you by mail (usually within two weeks after you submit all your admission materials) of your admission status. If accepted into Indiana University High School, you'll receive instructions for contacting an advisor to discuss how your previous course work might transfer to Indiana University High School and to plan your course of study.
Indiana University High School maintains a highly qualified staff of academic advisors to answer your questions, help you plan your course of study, and listen to your concerns. Each advisor has considerable high school counseling experience and is fully certified by the Indiana Department of Education.
You are encouraged to have frequent contact with the academic advisors. Academic advisors are available by telephone from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. eastern standard time Monday through Friday and from 6 to 9 p.m. eastern standard time Monday through Thursday. You may also contact the academic advisors by e-mail. Instructions for contacting the advisors will be provided to you as soon as you are accepted into Indiana University High School.
