- Do colleges accept your diploma as they would a diploma issued by a regular high school?
Our diploma is accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, and is issued by Indiana University High School. More than 100 colleges and universities have accepted IUHS grads. Most colleges view our diploma as the same as any other, but we encourage students to check with colleges to which they're considering applying to get that institution's view of a diploma earned through distance learning.
- Can I earn my diploma entirely online?
Not at this time. You may complete your diploma by taking only correspondence courses or by taking a combination of correspondence and online courses. Currently, nearly half of the high school courses are offered online, and the number is continually growing.
- How long will it take me to earn my diploma through your program?
This will depend on how many previously earned credits you are able to transfer into our program, the number of courses you enroll in at a time, and the pace you work through your courses. Depending on these factors, earning your diploma through us may take anywhere between several months and several years.
- What is a credit?
A 1 credit course covers the same amount of material as a traditional high school semester course.
Important: Indiana University awards 1 credit for completion of a one-semester independent study high school course. However, credit designation for a one-semester course varies from state to state. Some states grant 1/4 credit or 1/2 credit for such a course. We encourage you to find out-before enrolling in an independent study high school course-how much local credit you will earn toward graduation by taking one of our courses. Your state Department of Education is the most reliable source of information about the amount of credit you will earn.
