In 2008, after a 25-year sabbatical from formal higher education and seven years of graduate study At IUPUI and Ball State, I completed my doctorate in Adult, Higher & Continuing Education at BSU. I earned a master’s degree in Adult Education at IUPUI in 2004, and bachelor’s in Journalism in 1979. After a first career in graphic arts and printing, including owning my own small business, I found my way to adult education because I reached a point where I experienced a lack of challenge and personal and professional growth. I needed to do “something more.” When I began to teach continuing studies courses in computers to older adults, and discovered it to be personally rewarding, I decided to return to school. Because I live in Fort Wayne, the distance program through IUPUI seemed to be the best opportunity for me to continue my education. I enjoy teaching because I am a continuous learner. Teaching provides the experience of learning with and from a new, unique |
group of people every semester. I love to share learning experiences with others, and to help support others’ development and growth however I am able. During my doctoral coursework, I spent a semester living and studying in Denmark, and continue to enjoy regular travel adventures with my family - most recently to China. I have also authored/co-authored two articles published in Adult Learning and presented at several conferences. I am a certified Participation Training Facilitator and completed my dissertation on participant experiences of the PT process. I teach for Indiana University Purdue University at both the Indianapolis and Fort Wayne campuses. I live in Fort Wayne with my husband, Conrad, and son, Henry. Marje teaches ACE-D 500, 521 and 620.
