Kimberly

Being a graduate of the Indiana University Adult Education masters program and working in the HRD Department at Community Health Network along side educators who were either doctorally prepared or seeking their Ed.D encouraged me to continue my education. After a few years of gaining practical training and development work experience, I completed my Ph.D. at The Union Institute with a major in Organizational Development. My Cognates were in Process Improvement and Counseling with a focus in Interpersonal Relationships.

My enjoyment and passion of teaching adults stem from finding the strengths and gifts in the learner and then strengthening their strengths. I strongly believe that adults learn more when aligning performance development with values based teaching; always using a compassionate heart and encouragement.

I enjoy the creative teaching/learning process of engaging learners in discovery and facilitating organizational learning. One of my passions is in helping learners understand that there is nothing like a good theory to help them get unstuck;

and then being able to apply theory to their work environment. My learners can count on me asking about their transfer of knowledge and self-reflection within their own organizational construct.

Most of my writing and presentations have concentrated on engaging the learner and enhancing performance. Most recently, I have presented at the 2008 Midwest Research to Practice conference, the 2008 IHI Patient Safety Conference, and the 2009 VHA Nursing Leadership Institute.

You will find me being a lifelong learner both professionally and personally, completing the Lean SixSigma Blackbelt for Healthcare training. I continue taking classes in cooking, quilting, painting, and piano.

Lainey teaches ACE-D 505, 523, and 613.
