Nate Klinck is now the director of workforce development and new initiatives for the Indiana University School of Continuing Studies (SCS). In that role, he coordinates the partnership between the Center of Excellence of the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, university-wide School of Continuing Studies, and IUPUI Community Learning Network.
The School of Continuing Studies and Community Learning Network work with the Center of Excellence to provide up-to-date training and professional development opportunities for employees of the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) and its partner organizations. Nationally-recognized trainers lead the workshops, which have served more than 3,700 participants in 67 programs since spring 2001.
"I look forward to continuing the School’s successful relationship with the Department of Workforce Development," said Klinck. "I believe strongly in the value of workforce development, and feel that a greater collaboration between continuing education, economic development, and workforce development will aid in DWD’s goal of ‘raising everyone up one level.’"
There are several IU/DWD training programs in the works. A series on Case Management will be offered this April. These workshops will focus on the process of successful case management for workforce development, how to build a case record, how to write effective case notes, and legal and ethical issues for case managers.
Previously, Klinck served as the Director of the Center of Excellence at the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. In that capacity, he oversaw policy development and operations for the Department’s workforce investment act, trade adjustment act, and veterans employment and training services programs throughout the state.
“The School of Continuing Studies and the Department of Workforce Development have a successful history of working together," said William Miller, Director of Career Services, Indiana Department of Workforce Development. "The School’s training programs have been very valuable to our staff persons, and Nate’s experience will allow us to continue to offer training programs of the highest quality.”
Klinck holds a Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University and an IU graduate certificate in public/nonprofit management. He is currently working toward a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs at IUPUI.
