  IUHS French Instructor Selected to Receive $8,000 Lilly Fellowship

Indiana University High School teacher Rebecca Elkins was selected as one of 121 Indiana educators to receive a 2008Teacher Creativity Fellowship from the Lilly Endowment. Elkins, who teaches French for IUHS and Shelby Eastern School Corporation, will receive $8,000 to use to travel to southern France this summer to study French quilts and fabrics, take a quilting class, and explore an area of France she has never visited. The title of her fellowship is La Courtepointe: A Patchwork of Southern France.

The Lilly Endowment Teacher Creativity Fellowship began in 1987 as a way to support Indiana educators in their efforts to personally renew and intellectually revitalize. The Endowment provides 120 grants of $8,000 each, and up to 10 distinguished fellowship awards of up to $25,000.
