Daniel S. Bopp has been appointed as the director of the Indiana University General Studies Degree Program. Most recently, Bopp was manager for institutional relations in the School of Continuing Studies’ Office of Marketing and Communication. In that capacity, he traveled throughout the states of California and Arizona, where he worked with community colleges interested in IU’s 3+1 program.
In addition, Bopp has taught for the IU Independent Study Program for 30 years. Between 1998 and 2004, he directed the IU high school Independent Study Program, playing a vital role in the creation and accreditation of the Indiana University High School diploma program.
In his new position, Bopp manages, supervises, and administers the university-wide General Studies Degree Program university-wide office; administers the General Studies Program for students earning their degrees at-a-distance and on all IU campuses; and directs all recruiting, outreach, admission, advising, and certification functions of the office. He also continues to develop new partnerships for articulation with the General Studies Degree Program.
Former general studies director J.R. Schellhammer retired on June 30, 2006. However, he continues to serve as an articulation consultant for the degree program.
