Indiana University High School (IUHS) is joining schools across the country in celebrating National School Counseling Week, February 4–8, 2008. This year's theme is "School Counselors: Creating Pathways to Success."
Indiana University High School works with counselors from all 50 states in providing distance education courses to high school students. Students take IUHS courses to build flexibility into their schedules, stay on track for graduation, earn a diploma, get a head start on college, or explore courses that interest them.
"Counselors play a critical role in helping students to define and reach their educational goals, and to meet the challenges facing them," stated IUHS director Bruce Colston. "We want to thank counselors for their dedication and concern and for the fundamental role they play in the lives of our nation's youth."
Indiana University High School is especially celebrating the counselors in its own diploma program: Susan Colston, Ida Medlyn, and Fran Shields. “Over the past nine years, these counselors have advised hundreds of students, many of whom are now attending prestigious colleges and universities,” said IUHS director Bruce Colston. “We want to remind IUHS students that their counselors can put them on the path to academic success.”
